National Carpenters' DayApril 21 will mark the first ever national day to celebrate the valuable work of those in the carpentry trade.

National Carpenters’ Day, is one of the initiatives of the new timber industry marketing campaign Wood. Naturally Better.

The day will celebrate not just the obvious work that carpenters do, but will also be a great chance to educate carpenters and consumers about some of the lesser known benefits of working and living with wood.

National Carpenters’ Day will serve as a timely reminder for why timber and timber products remain the preferred choice for many building and design applications.

One of the aims of National Carpenters’ Day will be to build awareness among carpenters of the strong environmental credentials of timber – it is the only building material which is a natural and sustainable carbon store.

To show the industry’s appreciation of carpenters, there will be a range of events and promotions held around the country for carpenters to get involved in on National Carpenters’ Day. In Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart, this will include an afternoon BBQ event where carpenters can receive a free sausage sizzle, a neck and shoulder massage, and go into the draw to win a major prize.

We would encourage you to tell all your carpentry colleagues or associates about these events and direct them to the National Carpenters’ Day website for more information, www.carpentersday.com.au.
