The newly revised editions of AS 1684
Notable revisions to the Standard include:
These revisions are largely a response to changes to the design characteristic values of MGP stress grades in AS 1720.1. The popularity of MGP timber framing makes these changes of paramount importance to the implementation of AS 1684. Although the overall effect of these revisions should be minimal, builders must take care to comply with the span table changes. Checking the new span tables is, however, a simple task. Copies of the revised Standard, released in June 2010, are now available from timber.net.au. TDA is able to offer a substantial discount on RRP for the AS 1684 standards to those who wish to purchase 5 or more copies. |
